Your Nonprofit and the New Exempt and Contractor Rules (Redux)

New government regulations have left nonprofits wondering how to adjust their employment practices and the budgetary implications. Many worry that these changes could seriously impact their ability to fulfill their missions.

On March 11, the Department of Labor's new rule differentiating contractors from employees went into effect.  On July 1, minimum salaries for exempt employees will go up by 23%.  On Jan 1, 2025, that minimum will rise to 65% of today's rate.

This presentation will dive into the history of the rules so that we can contextualize and understand them.  We will then discuss strategies your nonprofit can employ to navigate the changes while minimizing any negative repercussions.
